Healing Crisis

Why do so many people embark on a cleanse then run the other way the second they feel bad? What many people don't realize is that your body gets worse before it gets better. This is what Dr. Koyfman refers to as "healing cirisis". Healing Crisis means feeling worse before one can feel better. Our bodies are holding on to a variety of disorders and toxins at any given moment. If during the cleansing process, one begins to feel a disorder never felt before, it means that the immune system was finally able to recognize it. This is a great thing. There are many times when people are going through the cleansing process that they will say, "I felt better before I started the cleanse." The reason one would feel better before a cleanse, is because the cleansing process brings things to the surface. Through this process, the body is trying to let go, and often times it lets go quicker than the body can get rid of it. That is why colon hydrotherapy is so extremely important when doing any type of cleansing.

In my opinion, I would never take an herbal cleanse, or going on an extremely cleansing diet without doing colonics at the same time. The colonics help make sure you're releasing the toxins that are being released from the cleansing diet or herbs.

Don't let the healing crisis scare you. Healing crisis symptoms might look like: fatigue, headaches, nausea, digestive discomfort, skin eruptions, weakness, etc. The body takes energy to heal. When you cleanse, your body slows you down so it can use that energy for healing. Honor this symptom of cleansing, as you are likely to achieve better results if you do.

How To Best Prepare For Your Session and What To Do After

Before Your Cleanse:

1. Don't eat anything solid for at least two hours before the procedure. You can drink as much as you'd like, even smoothies, just nothing solid. Those who'd like to lose weight should stay on a liquid diet for 12-24 hours before there session.

2. For best results we suggest you not eat any foods that produce gas, such as beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, nuts, and bread, on the day of your procedure.

3. Avoid soft drinks all together especially the day of the procedure.

4. For those who suffer from bloating, don't eat any raw fruits, vegetables or beans for 24 hours before and after the procedure. It is better to eat whole grains (brown rice, buckwheat, millet, quinoa and amaranth). Steamed vegetables and freshly made vegetable juices.

After Your Cleanse:

1. If you have never had a colonic before, or haven't had one in a while, it is much better if you have a colonic session 2 or 3 days in a row; this will help soften and eliminate hard clogs and colon stones. It will also help eliminate a lot of gases which may give you bloating and pain. Then you may continue the cleansing once or twice per week.

2. If you are too blocked and full with gas, it is normal to feel some discomfort after the procedure. If you experience pain or other problems that bother you, you may drink hot water (1 cup water plus 1 teaspoon lemon juice), 2 sips every 5 minutes, or put a pinch of sea salt under your tongue, until the salt is diluted. The swallow the saliva and spit out any remaining salt grains. This helps to neutralize toxins, and you will start feeling better.

3. If you suffer from chronic hemorrhoids you may expect some discomfort in the rectum and sometimes a little blood. If you have chronic colitis, it is possible that you may see some mucus with blood. If you have a sluggish colon or suffer from constipation, after the cleansing you probably won't feel the need to have a bowel movement for 2-3 days.

4. To maintain a clean colon after you have completed a series of cleaning's, it is recommended to go on a prevention program described in Dr. Koyfman's book "Complete guide to Whole Body Cleansing"

5. Keep in mind that the toxins from the colon go first to the liver. When the liver becomes blocked they spread to other organs and systems, and clog the blood vessels.

6. Keeping your colon clean can help you avoid many health-related problems, and also feel and look better, younger and more energetic.

7. To activate the cleansing cycle, it is recommended to follow a cleansing diet. See Dr. Koyfman's book, " Deep Internal Body Cleansing, chapter entitled, "Diet for rational Health."

8. At the same time, in order to soften the toxic waste in the colon, it is a good idea to have a warm bath for 15-20 minutes, two to three times a week.

9. If during the procedure you don't release a large amount of waste material and you feel discomfort, this is a sign that you are too blocked and your colon is weak. In this case, and in addition to the warm bath, you can put some castor oil compresses on the abdominal area. For this, follow the technique refer to the book, "Complete Guide to Whole Body Cleansing"

10. If after colon cleansing you feel cramping, it means that the water from the cleansing awakened the colon and activated peristaltic activity. The Colon is now trying to push out the poisons which stick to its walls. Feelings of discomfort after the procedure mean that the muscle movements meet the resistance of blockages, hard and large masses which block the passages. The muscles are not able to overcome the resistance and break up the blockage, so they increase their tension, and this makes you feel cramping. As feces gathers and expands the space behind the blockages, you may feel some pain. Another possible reason for post-cleansing cramping is that one part of either the large or small intestine may crossed over and constricting another part. To help the colon break up the blockages and eliminate the mass of gas, it is necessary to do cleansing 2-3 or more days in a row, do abdominal massage, use the castor oil pack, take a warm bath, and drink a lot of liquid.

11. To open more cleansing channels, you can combine colon cleansing with other deep body cleanses. Call today for more info.

What To Expect As A First Timer!

As stated previously, many first timers that come in are mis informed when it comes to expectations and results. Many aren't aware that colonics are there to enhance whatever else they are doing rather than being the end all. Often times first timers are under the impression that they are going to view consistent streams of waste during their first full session and are sorely disappointed when this doesn't occur. The colon, like any other muscle, takes time to strengthen and tone. Over time your results improve and become more effective. Just like going to the gym, you wouldn't expect instant weight loss or muscle definition from visiting the gym one time. If anything it is opposite. Your first work out you are usually sore and fatigued. It takes a while to recover, more so than when your body is stronger. Sometimes you think that you never want to go back. In any healing process, the body usually gets worse before it gets better. If you are an individual who is not planning on making any dietary changes and are just wanting to go in for one session, make sure you know what you are getting in to. If I knew someone who was coming in not planning on making any changes to their diet and lifestyle and they were expecting certain problems to be alleviated during one colon therapy session, I would say it would be a waste of their time and money.

We have grown up in a society that promotes a magic pill approach. An approach that is obviously killing us and doing us more harm than good. We want instant gratification and that is why so many companies market to those who are willing to spend high dollar for those instant results. This approach has lowered the value we put in our bodies and our health. For those of you looking for information on colon therapy, and who are wanting to try it, make sure you have a plan. Make sure you get the most out of your sessions that you can. If you've never done a good series, it is recommended that you do 6-12 to start out with. This is years of toxicity we're talking about and it will take time to soften and loosen things up. Talk to your colon therapist about different options out there and different programs that will help you achieve your desired results.

One approach is to research a cleanse that incorporates colonics. Your therapist should have different books that they could recommend that talk about this. Increase your water intake as well as your fruits and vegetables during this time. I will give more advice as the entries go on, but the key is to do your research, prepare yourself, make sure you feel comfortable with your colon therapist and take the leap of faith that you've been wanting to take. Your health is an investment, and it's the best investment you'll ever make. You have one body, and it is the greatest gift you will ever receive in your lifetime.

How Do I Know What To Look For When Searching For A Colon Hydrotherapist?

Until recently, colon hydrotherapy has been a service that has not required any kind of licensing. That is beginning to change. It used to be that anyone could give a colonic from an in home home made system to an FDA approved Class 2 medical device. Because of this, there were many who were performing colonics in a way that came across as somewhat of a medical procedure rather than a service. Because colon hydrotherapist are not doctors, they do not have the ability to prescribe anything to their clients as well as identify, or diagnose anything that is coming out of the client. Right now colon hydrotherapy is a service. A service in which technically the FDA has required that everyone wanting a colonic get a prescription from their doctor. Right now Texas is the only state that I know of that enforces that. In Texas, you cannot receive a colon hydrotherapy session without a prescription from your doctor. Often times I have had clients come in that were told of all the various things that were coming out of their colons. One who comes in to my clinic will not get that from me. Because I want to protect this service from becoming one that in the slightest way resembles a medical procedure, I will not even attempt to identify what is coming out of the client. There is too much human error involved with identifying what is coming out of an individual that it is safer to error on the side of caution.

As you search for a colon hydrotherapist, make sure they have credible certification. You can check through i-act.org to find one near you. Also ask if they use FDA approved equipment and that they are following all manufactures regulations. This will ensure that you are receiving the best possible service available. Be educated on the different types of systems, open or closed, and how they will best benefit you. Ask questions.

When people come in to Whole Body Cleansing they are given all the information they need to make the best decision for what their bodies need. I help people base their results on how they are feeling throughout the process rather than what is coming out. We all have intuition that allows us to know intuitively what is best for our bodies. Now in the beginning your sessions might be a bit rough as your body goes through detox and with drawl. But if you'll stick with the process, you will find that at one point you'll be telling the colon therapist what you need rather than them telling you.

What Is A Colonic?

It has been in the recent past that many are becoming interested in colon hydrotherapy for a number of reasons. More and more are having digestive issues at a younger and youger age, and more people are realizing the importance of cleansing the body which colon hydrotherapy is a great addition to any cleanse. Let's first talk about what a colonic is or other wise known as colon hydrotherapy. Colon Hydrotherapy is a method of gently cleansing the large intestine or the colon. This organ is approximately 5 feet in length and is separated from the small intestine by a one way valve. A colonic can NOT reach any other organ directly except the colon. To cleanse the other organs you have to go orally. With that said, there is an order to cleansing, and through these blog entries, you'll find out how and when is best to cleanse. The colon is the first place you want to start with any cleanse. It is your main organ of elimination and is the place where everything else dumps to be eliminated. There are 5 major eliminative organs; Colon, kidneys, Lungs, Skin, and Liver. And because the colon has such heavy job to preform, cleansing it will relieve pressure off of the other eliminative organs.

As you do your research you'll come to find that there are two different type of systems. One is called the closed system, and the other is called the open system. I am an advocate for both systems and have found that it is a preference on which system you choose to use. I have an open system and therefore will be making reference to that system because it is what I am most familiar with. The major differences that I see between the two are the following. On the closed system, the therapist is the one who controls the waterk based on a pressure gage as well as knobs which allows the therapist to help the client fill with water and then when ready the therapist will use another knob to release the water from the client. The tube that is inserted in to the client allows water to go in and waste to come out. So everything is regulated throught the same tube. On an open system, the tube that is inserted is about the size of your pinky and is inserted roughly 2-3 inches. The tube is there to insert water only. Nothing actually comes through the tube. Everything that comes out of the client comes out around the tube. The tube remains there the entire session and scoots over on its own when fecal matter is released. The client has total control over the amount of water they hold and when they release. As you go about finding a therapist make sure you ask questions and become familiar with the differences. As stated previously, I have found that it is a matter of preferance on which system one decideds to go with. It might be smart to experience both to get a feel for each system. Now on to why colonics are important.

Often times people will go to the health food store and grab a liver cleanse or a kidney cleanse or some type of fiber which they have no idea the quality of ingredients in it and where they came from. They begin taking the product and begin feeling sicker than when they first started the product. This happens because their bodies begin to eliminated toxicity and that toxicity is carried down to the colon to be eliminated. Since the colon was not addressed to the extent it needed to be, the toxins begin to circulate the body because they can't make it out the colon. When this happens, people tend to get many detox symptoms that are extrememly unfavorable. They then begin to take this product unknowing of what it is doing inside the body.

In any cleansing program the colon is the first and most important organ to pay attention to. Whether it is a 3 day juice fast you're doing or transitioning to a cleaner diet the colon is critical to keep clean. Colonics help to relieve the body of large amounts of toxicity at any given time. What doesn't make it out the colon will put more stress on the other eliminative organs.

My Story

Welcome to cleanse my body. This blog was created to help educated and guide people through the cleansing process. My name is Mia and I am a certified colon hydrotherapist. I've been passionate about cleansing for quite some time now, and there is no question that it will be part of the rest of my life. I run a Whole Body Cleansing facility in Orem Utah and due to all the misinformation out there about colonics and cleansing I decided to help educate poeple through this wonderful tool.

To understand why I'm so passionate about the need to cleanse I'll give you a little bit of a background. First off, I don't think any 13 old little girl dreams of becoming a colon therapist when she gets older. I sure didn't. I got in to this field because at the young age of 25 I started noticing symptoms of aging that were not fun. I remember the year that my hair changed and the only way I could describe it was that it felt like it had died. Weight was harder to keep off and my digestion was not as good as it had been. I started noticing gray hairs and all people could say was, "Well, get used to it cause it's just part of the aging process." What do you mean part of the aging process? I was 25 years old. Long story short within one year my health declined so rapidly that at one time I had a doctor tell me that had I not come in when I did, he would have given me 6 months to live. This was disturbing.

When I was at my sickest, I had hormone levels of an eighty year old, I was going through early menapause, every muscle and joint in my body ached, my hair was falling out, my skin was breaking out, I had no energy and could barely lift my limbs. I could go 5 days without a nap and I felt like I was going crazy. Every thing I ate upset my stomach, my teeth felt like they were full of cavities, my togue had a horrible coating on it and I would burp repeatedly throughout the day. Yes, I know how attractive all these symptoms sound, but I felt like my body was dying from the inside out. There isn't one client that I meet that I can't in some way relate to what they are going through. It was the worst time in my life and it felt as if no one on the planet could relate. I had multiple diagnosis and they ranged from Hashimoto's Thyroiditis to Malabsorption to Adrenal Exsation. It was depressing beyong words and I had never felt so helpless and alone.

I had seen many doctors who wanted to give me multiple medications to cover up symptoms of other medications I was taking. But early on my dad had given me a book called, "Patient Heal Thyself." That book would change the way approached my recovery. The book focused on healing the digestive tract. And I knew in my heart that-that is where the root problem lied. I was on a mission. A mission to save my health and restore my youth. I have now come to realize that many of our health problems and physical issues, not to mention emotional, have the same underlying root cause. Our problems lie in being congested and defitient. It doesn't matter if you are dealing with physical issues or emotional issues the body has a need to release congestion and rebuild with necessary materials and nutrients. We are congested from all the toxic chemicals, food and air our bodies ingest. We are deficient because of the lack of nutrients in our food and our bodies inability to absorb the foods and supplements we injest. It has been the biggest eye opener and has forever change my life. Through out the future blogs I will try and educated the proper order to cleansing and why the need. I will also try and give information that will further explain the benefits of cleansing and colonics and thier need in our society today. Let me know if there is a topic of interest you would like to see a blog about and I will do my best to deliver the information. Thanks for reading.
